About the studio

Five people who'd rather do two projects properly

Quesiono started in 2022 with two people and one WordPress rebuild. There are five of us now, and we still cap the studio at two active builds — which is occasionally annoying for people who want to start next Monday, and the main reason the work is good.

The short version

What we actually are

We design and build websites, write the words that go on them, and run the search work that gets them found. All four in-house. That combination is the whole point — a site designed without the copy, or built without the URL structure decided, needs fixing within a year, and fixing costs more than doing it right the first time.

There are 22 services listed on this site. Every one of them is something one of the five of us does personally. We don't have a bench of contractors we go and find when someone says yes to a proposal, which is also why we turn work down — if it needs a skill none of us has, we'll say so and point you somewhere better.

The trade-off is capacity. Two active builds means a project usually starts three to five weeks after you sign, and a six-week build takes six weeks rather than four calendar weeks stretched across three months. If your launch date is fixed and close, tell us on the first call and we'll be straight about whether it's possible.

On money: fixed scope, fixed price, written down before anything starts. Payment is 40% to book the slot, 30% at design sign-off, 30% before launch. Change requests get quoted separately rather than absorbed silently and then argued about in week seven.

How we work

Six things we'll hold ourselves to

None of this is unusual. It's just written down, which turns out to be the unusual part.

You talk to the people building it

Five of us, and all five do the work. The person who designs your homepage is on the call when you ask why the hero is that tall. Nothing gets relayed through an account manager who has to check.

Performance is a requirement, not a phase

We set a performance budget in week one — a page-weight ceiling and an LCP target — and the build fails review if it breaks them. Retrofitting speed after launch costs three times as much and never gets all the way back.

Search structure goes in during the build

URL structure, internal links, headings, and schema are decided while the pages are being designed. A site that launches with those wrong needs a migration to fix, and migrations lose rankings.

We write the copy, or we work from yours

Design around lorem ipsum produces layouts that break the moment real sentences arrive. If the copy isn't ready, we write it. If you have a writer, they get the wireframes first.

Fixed scope, fixed price, written down

You get a document listing every page, every template, and what's explicitly out. Change requests get quoted separately. Nobody discovers the budget moved in week five.

You own everything at the end

Repository, hosting account, domain, design files, analytics. We'll keep maintaining it if you want us to — but leaving costs you a handover call, not a rebuild.

The five

Everyone here does the work

No account layer, no project coordinator relaying questions. The person who designed your homepage is on the call when you ask why the hero is that tall.

Hamza Iqbal

Founder

Scoping, pricing, and whoever needs unblocking

Started the studio in 2022 after four years of watching agencies quote a number and deliver a different one. Takes every first call, writes every scope document, and still does the pricing himself so nobody has to guess what a project costs.

Rida Malik

Design Lead

Interface design, type systems, conversion layout

Designs from the copy outward — she'd rather argue about a headline for an hour than pick a shade of blue. Owns the type scale and component system that every build here starts from, and the reason our contrast ratios get checked twice.

Bilal Rehman

Lead Developer

Next.js, headless CMS, Core Web Vitals

Writes the front end and enforces the performance budget, which mostly means telling the rest of us that the carousel isn't worth 180KB. Rebuilt our own site three times because he kept finding a faster way to render the same thing.

Ayesha Nadeem

SEO Lead

Technical audits, local search, internal linking

Runs the technical side of search: crawl budget, index bloat, the redirect maps that stop a relaunch from costing you six months of rankings. Keeps a spreadsheet of every ranking change on every client site, which has caught more than one problem before the client noticed.

Zoya Farooq

Content Lead

Site copy, long-form articles, editorial planning

Writes the pages and edits everything the rest of us write, which is why the site doesn't read like five different people. Interviews clients before drafting, so the copy sounds like the business rather than like an agency describing a business.

3 open

Could be six

We hire slowly and only when a specific kind of work keeps arriving. Right now there are 3 roles open.

How we got here

Four years, five decisions

Including the one that flattened revenue for two quarters.

  1. 2022

    Two people and one client

Hamza and Rida took on a single WordPress rebuild for a Houston contractor, working evenings. It launched three weeks late and taught us to quote timelines with the review rounds included.

  2. 2023

    Development came in-house

Bilal joined and we stopped subcontracting builds. Turnaround dropped by about a third, mostly because nobody was waiting on someone else's queue any more.

  3. 2024

Search and content stopped being add-ons

Ayesha and Zoya joined within four months of each other. Sites started launching with the copy written and the structure mapped instead of both arriving after the design was signed off.

  4. 2025

    We started saying no

Capped ourselves at two active builds. Revenue flattened for two quarters and the work got noticeably better, so we kept the cap.

  5. 2026

    Our own tools

Shipped Resumeflow AI, the first product we built for ourselves rather than a client. It pays for the experiments the client work can't justify.

The menu was the thing. It used to be a PDF that took forever to open and I had to email someone every time we changed a price. Now my manager edits it from her phone between services. Bookings are up about a third, and I get fewer calls asking what time we open.

We'd been told our store needed a redesign. Quesiono looked at it and said the design was fine, the problem was eleven apps and a five-step checkout. That was a cheaper answer than the one we expected and it worked — conversion is up 25% on the same traffic.

They spent the first week sitting with our analysts instead of with me, which I'll admit I questioned at the time. It's where they found a timezone bug that was causing half the manual work. The dashboard saves us about nine hours a week and our clients log in themselves now.

Where we are

Houston, and wherever you are

We're based in Houston, TX. About half our clients are within a two-hour drive and the other half we've never met in person, which works fine — the calls are the same either way, and the preview URL doesn't care where you open it.

Tell us what the site needs to do. If we're not the right studio for it we'll say so on the first call, and usually suggest who is.
